Headache Treatment

What is a Headache?

A headache is a common condition characterized by pain or discomfort in the head, scalp, or neck. It can vary in intensity, location, and type (throbbing, dull, sharp). Headaches are classified into primary headaches, which occur on their own (like migraines, tension headaches, or cluster headaches), and secondary headache.

What Can Be Done for Cancer Pain?

Cancer pain can be managed effectively in most patients using a combination of treatments. The first step is a proper pain assessment to understand the type, cause, and intensity of the pain. Based on that, doctors can prescribe medications like paracetamol, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or stronger opioids like morphine for moderate to severe pain. If the pain is due to nerve damage, special drugs like antidepressants or anticonvulsants may help. Non-medical therapies such as physical therapy, acupuncture, counseling, or relaxation techniques can also be beneficial
